Import Export (IE) Code is a registration required for persons importing or exporting goods and services to and from India.

2. Which is the authority issuing the IEC ?

Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India is the concern authority issuing the same . 

3. Is this same valid for lifetime ?

IEC is valid for lifetime ,there is no renewal required ,the same is valid till the business exist .

4. Can it be surrendered ?

The same can be surrendered as and when the business owner feel like .

5.Whether the IE code is reuired for personal import purchases as well ?

No, IE code is not required for any personal import purchases

6.How much time its required for allotment of IE code ?

The same is allotted within 4-5 working days ,if all the documents required are deemed fit

7. Is Import Export code need to be updated

Yes, All IEC holders need to update their IEC and validate on annual basis .The same need to be done from

April -June of the year
